Revising the Family Medical Leave Act

If you agree that bereaved parents should be allowed family leave following the death of a child, please sign this petition and send letters to all of your representatives.

The Farley-Kluger Amendment to the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA)

Personally, I see this as a first step. Bereavement leave is not mandated federally or in most states for any kind of loss. If you have grieved the loss of a family member you know the 3 days you often get for the funeral (and even that isn't mandated) is never enough. You know as well as I, that it will take months and even years, before you're able to function optimally again. The most disturbing part of this is that if people were allowed this time, they probably would be able to return to work sooner and be more productive when they do.

Anyhow, this is a worthy cause so please offer your support by signing the petition.

Thanks!
